Valencia Mar will host the first event of the European circuit of the 69F Cup, a category of extremely fast boats.
Valencia Mar will host the first race of the great European circuit of Team 69F from April 12 to 23. The racing tour dedicated to the 69F category – an extremely fast navigation mode – chooses Valencia Mar as the host base to inaugurate its regattas in Europe, which will be added to those already held on the North American circuit. Valencia will be the first city where the 69F foiler stops, the little “beast” that triumphs in the world of international sailing. The 69F circuit is made up of authentic “flying boats”, in a reduced version of the mythical America’s Cup.

Paolo Casti, CEO of Coming Solutions, the company that conceived and gave life to the 69F project, explains the choice of Valencia Mar: “We couldn’t imagine a better place than Valencia Mar for our first European Grand Prix of the 2022 season. We have built an innovative high performance boat and designed two compelling and sustainable competition formats. We have also created an attractive brand image with the aim of communicating key values such as passion, energy and fun”.
The “69F Cup Valencia Mar Sailing Week” will offer twelve days of entertainment starring flying crews. The objective is to promote sports, sailing and offer spectacular entertainment to all audiences, from professionals to amateurs. The 69F project has already spread its wings in the United States, with Miami being the first city to start the regatta circuit during the month of January. In addition, the 69F Cup has a solid projection for the imminent future: “next year we plan to start fruitful collaborations in Asia, Africa and Oceania to cover all continents”, explains Paolo Casti.
Valencia Mar has conquered the organisation of the European circuit with its commitment to excellence and to sharing the values and lifestyle of the 69F: sustainability, speed, innovation, internationalisation and health promotion through sport. In line with its growth objectives, in addition to hosting the 69F circuit, it also enters fully into the international sailing circuits, such as the Windsurfer class regattas that will begin in November.
A boat with hydrofoils to fly
The Persico 69F is an extremely fast type of boat with a unique design and hydrofoils, which allows it to reach a speed of 35 knots. They have the ability to fly over water at twice the speed of the wind, making it one of the fastest sailing ships in the world.
It reaches 6.9 metres in length, with a beam of 2.1 metres – 3.58 adding the retractable ones where the sailors stand – and 1.7 metres of draught, with 69 square metres of sail area. It shares the same concept of the AC75 of the America’s Cup, but is smaller and can accommodate up to three crew members.

After 3 days of official training, the regattas will kick off next Friday, April 15 at the “69F Cup Valencia Mar Sailing Week”, where the participants will compete for three consecutive days. The next round of regattas will be held from April 21 to 23.
On April 23 we will have a guest boat so that you can see the excitement of the regatta from an exceptional platform.
You can enjoy the regattas from a 25-meter-long superyacht with a capacity of 50 seats in which two types of tickets are offered. On the one hand, the public can choose between enjoying the tournament live, from the sea, and with catering service and on the other hand, a more VIP experience that includes a prior briefing with the sailors, going out to sea during the sport event and a subsequent meal at La Barraquita restaurant.
The “la Caixa” Foundation, through CaixaBank, collaborates in these regattas with the aim of contributing to the integration programme for young people at risk of exclusion that Valencia Mar has prepared with the ADEMEEX Association. This social action pursues the integration, adaptation and rehabilitation of minors and young people with specific needs through nautical-sports activities.
